White wines tasting notes
AUXEY-DURESSES « LES RONDIÈRES » 2000 white
Georges Pertuiset (2004, June) :
«A pale gold yellow colour, bright and limpid.
A pleasant sensation of richness and maturity unveils, evoking yellow fruit, citrus, fresh butter, as a background you can feel some floral nuances with a hint of toasted bread and a mineral touch.
On the palate, this wine reveals power, roundness and volume. A nice fat character fills your palate turning to fruit, toast and citrus. A pleasant lingering freshness highlights a cooler and slightly nervous finish, with citrus hints, mainly lemon dominated.
A generous gourmet wine that can be drunk now but could benefit from an extra year lying down.»
Philippe Léglise (juillet 2006)
« A pale gold colour with green tinges. A rich and complex nose with a dominant white flower and thorn fragrance.
With its full and round palate and pronounced aromas of honey, spice and brioche (bun) this wine can be in some ways akin to a meursault. Rather typical of its vintage, being at the same time very green and fairly rich in alcohol, this wine should reach its peak in months to come, but it is already superb to taste right now. »
BOURGOGNE CHARDONNAY 2003 white
Philippe Léglise (2006, July) :
« Deep gold robe with green tinges.
A very fresh and fragrant nose, a rich and complex combination with dominant honeysuckle and spicy scents.
The palate develops honey and smoky aromas, with a good balance between fatness and acidity which results in a quite long finish, giving a relevant vision of what a bourgogne appellation can offer to a 2003 vintage which finally gave better results than expected as far as white wines are concerned.
As a consequence, you should not hesitate to keep it in the cellar for at least two years in order to fully appreciate its aromatic expression. »
BOURGOGNE ALIGOTÉ « GOLDEN GRAINS » 1999 white
Philippe Léglise (2006, July) :
« A deep yellow colour, limpid and bright. A fresh and developed nose dominated by vanilla and mignonette fragrances with a touch of golden apple.
A fairly fresh palate for this particularly early vintage, with a beautifully crisp attack without any astringent character. This wine takes advantage of the whole roundness and tenderness of this grape variety when it is vinified properly. With strong vanilla aromas on a nutty background, a light gunflint hint and a more mellow character than in an «ordinary» year.
Ready to drink. On its own as an aperitif, with oysters and fine delicatessen, white cheese and goat cheese. »
Wine and Health Guide 2007 :
« Shining gold robe, brilliant with pearly tinges. After swirling, the nose reveals a soft fruity fragrance of yellow peaches, pear and pineapple, enhanced by acacia, star anise and mineral aromas.
On the palate, the attack is charming with a wonderful balance between acidity and roundness, enlightened by lovely flavours of white fruits (pear, Reinette apple), cinnamon, menthol, with a lemon and mineral finish.
A perfect choice to serve with grilled cuttlefish or shellfish.
This wine contains a total amount of 376mg/l polyphenols (27.7% monomers and 3.9% oligomers). »
SAVIGNY-LES-BEAUNE « LES VERMOTS » 2003 white
Philippe Léglise (2006, July) :
« Elegant and fresh nose with already present fresh butter and nutty fragrances, cinnamon and white flowers.
On the palate, the attack is round and ample, confirming the nutty aromas. A very full-bodied and well-balanced wine, rich and fat, with a powerful finish.
Particularly suited to accompany fish in white sauce, this savigny-les-beaune «les vermots» is to be laid down for four two five years to reach its peak. But it won´t be disappointing if you are not patient enough to wait … »
